WHY IMPROV?
Improvisational theater has been around a long time and requires participants to think on their feet, interact and solve a “scene problem.” These skills transfer to the corporate world where employees must interact, listen and adapt to challenges within the company or from the external environment.
We help people develop and carry a tool bag of improv skills to address common challenges.
Some of the tools include:
For the person who wants to challenge him or herself in a one-to-one environment where learning is rapid. Training can involve how to think on your feet, lighten up, and deal with the unexpected, as well as how to strengthen your sense of humor. This option is perfect for the person who gets nervous when speaking or wants to learn how to leverage their sense of humor.

I live for spontaneity. Magic happens when we’re spontaneous. Ideas fly, energy is transmitted, and we’re engaged in living. So much of corporate life is not spontaneous and that’s why I want to “improv” that environment. When people think spontaneously, they’re challenging themselves to be the best human possible. What’s even better, is that great ideas come from spontaneity.
I have Underdog Energy. My favorite movies often revolve around an underdog overcoming overwhelming obstacles, using whatever skills they have. Improv is like that. What do I have to work with right now. In workshops, finding the underdog and trying to make their experience positive is always a goal.
Improv is also important because it teaches acceptance and recovery from failure. Sometimes what we want is just out of reach. Reach again!!! When things aren’t going well you have to improvise, innovate ,and make a change to move forward. Improv helps us to not absorb negative energy. It’s a data driven world but data is driven by the people. Let’s not forget to interact with each other as positively as possible. The world is complex and fast moving requiring adaptability.
Helping people have fun, become more adaptable and be in the moment is my goal. When teaching others, I’m at my happiest.
This introduction to Improv helped 75 Project Managers get reacquainted post pandemic and also allowed them to see how improv could impact their jobs.
GSK was implementing Open Floor Plan policy. There’s no better time to hire a comedian when there’s a bitter pill to swallow.
If you know anything about Project Managers, you know they could use some humor. In this keynote performance I poke a little fun at them.
For GSK’s performance it just seemed to make sense to create a Pharma commercial to treat OFP; Open Floor Planatitis.
A major pharmaceutical company (whose prefers to remain nameless) was implementing a new program called 5S; all about being neater and tidier. This is one of four videos we made for their humorous event.
Al gave an incredible improv workshop for our club. I’d recommend him to anyone and for these three reasons:
Adaptability: Our group has a wide variety of public speaking experience across about 12 people, and Al was able to meet each person where they were.
Interactive: There was no industry-speak to learn and his style is much more hands-on. It was a perfect balance of acting it out myself and observing others, with tips added in as they came up naturally.
Fun: Cannot emphasize this enough! Al is a super down-to-earth person who loves to have a good time, so we did too!
Fascinating and impactful! Submerge yourself in a safe environment, learning improv, for a true comedic and educational experience! The techniques you’ll learn during your time with Al will be applicable skillsets that can be transferred to all areas of your life. I have yet to see a better solution to improve communication skills – whatever your current abilities may be. Al can help a person alter their perspective in ways that either didn’t seem possible or hadn’t initially been thought of.
Do not miss this opportunity to focus on personal growth and propel yourself into a mindset of strength, positivity, and creativity. The practice of improv will surely foster a knack for comfort in any situation, leading to increased confidence and self-empowerment.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Your performance was both educational and entertaining, and we loved it. I only wish it didn’t have to end (the hour went by too fast). I love it when you get a bizarre response, and you just roll with it. You certainly know how to make an awkward situation funny!
Al really brought out the funny in us all. By the end of the session we had laughed so much, but even better than that, in the humor of it all, we learned so much more about each other. It created a great camaraderie within the group for the rest of our 3-day conference. He covered many aspects of using humor and also gave fantastic information on how to video ourselves. Thanks Al for a fantastic session and getting me to do Improv. Never in a million years would I have thought it’s possible.
Al has helped our Toastmasters group improve our impromptu speaking. One of the most challenging moments for a public speaker is to be called upon to deliver a confident, coherent and well-organized speech on a topic with little time to prepare. These moments are typically the most important so knowing how to handle them is crucial.
It is my good fortune to be a member of the same Toastmasters Club which Al is a part. Not only have I enjoyed the talks he has given, I've benefitted from the workshops he's conducted. Al is excellent at providing guidance on public speaking. He is rich with knowledge and experience. Al generously shares both.
His approach is organized in a way that provides an explanation of which elements need to be included when speaking. Then he allows you to practice implementing the new skills with constructive critiques and making it fun. What better way to learn? When you need someone to effectively teach Al is a great choice!!
